How Long Does a Pickleball Tournament Take?
Estimate match waves, buffers, and a realistic finish time.
Count matches first
A single round robin with n teams has n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 matches. A single-elimination bracket needs n − 1 matches. Divide the match count by available courts and round up to get court waves.
Use observed match length
Timed recreational games are predictable. Traditional games to 11 can vary widely, especially in evenly matched fields. Add changeover time to every wave, not just once at the end.
Add an operating buffer
Add 10–15% for announcements, disputed scores, bathroom breaks, and a slow court. Larger events also need separate time for check-in and awards.
